The BAB is pleased to announce the participation of their Publishing House in Opening the Future, an initiative that adds a new dimension to how we fund and distribute our scholarly monographs.
How it Works The model is based on a transparent, collective structure:
- Libraries subscribe to a curated collection of BAB’s backlist titles.
- The revenue from these subscriptions is used as a dedicated fund to produce new, peer-reviewed monographs in Open Access.
Expanding Access to Scholarship By participating, libraries grow their own digital archives while simultaneously supporting the publication of new research that is free of Book Processing Charges (BPCs) for authors. We see this as a practical addition to the scholarly ecosystem, ensuring that African Studies research remains accessible to a global audience.
