The archive holdings encompass more than 100’000 images, mainly emphasising Namibia and southern Africa in the 20th century. The images include photographic materials (negatives, positives, slides and a few glass plates), postcards and picture cards. Several ten thousand images (negatives, positives in albums, slides) are digitally available.
Most of the images stem from private archives. Often, the image holdings are closely related to text, sound and/or film documents from the same Personal Archive.
